Cathie Ounsted is the Conservative Party candidate for Saanich-Gulf Islands with a proven track record of getting things done for her community. Cathie brings a breadth of community-building, business and financial oversight experience. She has served as an appointed member of the Central Saanich Police Board, elected to the Peninsula Co-Op Board of Directors, elected to Central Saanich Council, and most recently served 9 years on the Victoria Airport Authority Board of Directors with the last two years being the Chairperson. Additionally, Cathie and her husband Chris operate Ounsted and Company, a local accounting firm. Cathie’s other past experience includes owning the Red Barn Market, a Director of Operations for Thrifty Foods and a short stint as a Reserve Constable for the Victoria Police Department. Cathie’s “strength by example” motto has led her to reach many goals and achievements that have brought her to federal politics.

Cathie also has extensive volunteer activities for various youth sports activities including Program Co-ordinators for Saanich Peninsula Minor Football and Mt Douglas Rams High School Football. It’s with these programs she has connected with many of the Saanich-Gulf Island’s youth and families.

Cathie and her husband Chris have lived in Saanich and Saanich Peninsula for over 35 years and raised their two young men, Jake (25) and Matthew (22). When not working, she enjoys hiking, visiting the Gulf-Islands in the summer and traveling across Canada to cheer on her boys playing football for Western University.
